The Blue Economy: Aquaculture, A Powerful Lever For Sustainable Development And Food Security In Algeria

Abstract

This article sets out to define the basic concepts of the blue economy and identify its most important related aspects and aims to highlight the importance of aquaculture in terms of food security in Algeria and this, by adopting a hypothetical deductive approach as well as statistical analysis and empirical data. The results of this study revealed that the blue economy could contribute to food security. Furthermore, despite the progress made in the field of aquaculture in Algeria, and despite its promise, the sector has a production deficit.
