Despite advances in postcolonial theory, some names and concepts remained underexplored. The example that this article targets is Kwasi Wiredu and his idea of conceptual decolonization. On the basis of a comparative approach, this article focuses on Said ‘s notion of voyage in that leads to the immersion of the mind in dominant discourses of power and to the dissection of its ties and hidden meanings. This endeavour, undertaken not only by Said, Spivak and Bhabha but also by Wiredu, justifies Wiredu’s eligibility for a referential rank in critical postcolonial theory. Furthermore, it links Wiredu’s conceptual decolonization with Ngugi’s rejection of the English language in African writing and with Achebe’s hybridization of languages. The key outcome revolves around Wiredu’s entitlement to a valuable place in the critical postcolonial theory and alongside names like Said, Spivak, Bhabha, Ngugi and Achebe. The major implication is that integrating Wiredu enriches the critical postcolonial theory with more rigor and depth.
