Résumé

This article examines French vocabulary in the exchanges of clothing merchants through two approaches : sociolinguistic and descriptive ,both based on the phenomenon of loanwords .The use of French –derived clothing vocabulary in clothing markets and ready-to-wear boutiques is not limited to simple lexical adoption lexical but reflects complex social ,identity –related ,and cultural dynamics. The analysis draws on examples collected from everyday Algerian speech in the western region, specifically in the city of Mostaganem.
