This study examines the legal framework established by the Algerian legislator for the protection of wild animals, as a vital natural resource essential to ensure ecological balance and fulfill economic objectives. The study aims to demonstrate the legislator's adoption of a sustainable protection approach that integrates preventive protection—by regulating hunting activities in terms of time, location, and conditions, and specifying the species permitted for hunting to conserve endangered species, in addition to establishing a system of protected areas. Furthermore, the legislator adopts deterrence and penalty mechanisms under the Penal Code and the penal provisions of specialized laws. This is achieved by criminalizing acts of aggression against wild animals and classifying them as misdemeanors or felonies to ensure deterrence and maintain environmental sustainability.
