Authors : Ariba Afaf . Mouhoub Abdellah .

Abstract

Digital transformation has become a central feature of contemporary healthcare systems, reshaping organizational structures, care delivery models, and professional practices. Within this evolving landscape, the concept of smart health organizations has emerged to describe healthcare institutions that rely on interconnected digital systems, data-driven processes, and adaptive governance. Despite this evolution, the role of speech-language pathology within smart health organizations remains insufficiently conceptualized. This article adopts a conceptual and analytical approach to examine the requirements for integrating speech-language pathology rehabilitation into smart health organizations. Drawing on interdisciplinary literature in digital health, organizational transformation, and rehabilitation sciences, the study identifies three key dimensions: professional competencies, organizational conditions, and ethical governance. The analysis highlights the contribution of speech-language pathologists to both clinical care and organizational intelligence, emphasizing communication and functional participation as essential components of smart healthcare. The article argues that integrating speech-language pathology into digital transformation strategies is necessary to ensure that smart health organizations remain human-centered, inclusive, and clinically meaningful.
