This foresight study aims to analyze the potential impacts of automation and artificial intelligence on the labor market in Algeria by assessing their role in improving the efficiency of key economic sectors and anticipating changes in job structures and required skills. It also seeks to propose policy recommendations to keep pace with these technological transformations. The study’s findings indicate that 30% of industrial jobs, 20% of service jobs, and 15% of agricultural jobs are at risk of being lost, potentially resulting in the elimination of 1.6 million jobs. On the other hand, digitalization could increase productivity by 20% in industry and 15% in agriculture, while creating new job opportunities in digital fields. However, the limited level of digital skills represents a major challenge.
