Industrial Carbon Emissions, Renewable Energy And Environmental Tax Revenue In China: A Bootstrap Quantile Regression Analysis

Authors : Lefilef Abdelhak .

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to assess the impact of environmental tax revenue, renewable energy consumption, and GDP growth on carbon dioxide emissions from industrial sector in China, using annual data over the period 1995-2021. Employing the bootstrap quantile regression across three quantiles (0.25, 0.50, and 0.75). the study highlighted a statistically significant negative effect of environmental tax revenue across the median and the upper quantiles, but an insignificant effect in law quantile. the study also showed a negative effect of renewable energy consumption and GDP growth across all the quantiles. The study showed that renewable energy consumption and economic growth decrease carbon dioxide emissions, but environmental tax revenue mostly reduces emissions at the median and upper quantiles. These findings suggest that environmental taxation, renewable energy, and green industrial upgrading can help China decarbonize and prosper
