This article addresses the topic of children’s socialization within the context of gated residential complexes, which represent a contemporary form of urban housing. Its primary aim is to examine the impact of this type of housing on children’s social and psychological development, with particular emphasis on identity formation. The study adopts a theoretical and documentary approach through a review of the literature in sociology and social psychology, focusing on key concepts such as gated communities, socialization, isolation, identity, and social integration. The paper concludes that closed residential environments may restrict opportunities for free social interaction, which in turn negatively affects processes of value acquisition, the sense of belonging, and the development of self-concept among children. It further emphasizes the importance of adopting urban planning and social policies that take into account the human dimension in the design of residential spaces. Such policies should promote opportunities for community interaction within gated complexes in order to support children’s socialization and foster their social and psychological growth amid contemporary urban transformations.
