Plagiarism In Academic Writings: Reasons And Proposed Solutions

Abstract
In research writing, plagiarism is considered as a serious offense because stealing the work of another writer is an unacceptable tactic. Nowadays, falling into plagiarism in academic writing has become very easy, since all information needed for research papers are available in the Internet; whether eBooks, essays, articles, reviews, or published research papers. Unfortunately, many students and scholars may fall in the plagiarism trap every time; for they lack of their efforts to produce and publish original texts. The present paper analyzes the issue of plagiarism, which is of a high degree of importance and one of the most dangerous topics related to scientific research. It provides an overview of this dangerous and growing phenomenon in the educational field, as it deals with a concise and complete explanation of scientific dishonesty, and discloses academic forms of plagiarism, enumerates its types, and the modern technical and legal means to stop this phenomenon. The aim is to warn about the danger of plagiarism, and raise the level of awareness among students and scholars of the dangers posed by plagiarism.
