The Contribution Of Renewable Energies To Achieving The Sustainable Development Goals (sdgs)

Authors : Guechairi Farah Naima .

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the contribution of renewable energies to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) between 2013 and 2023, focusing on SDGs 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13, through indicators of the latter. The analysis period extends from 2013 to 2023, mobilizing a literature review and quantitative data from international bodies such as IRENA, IEA, the World Bank, UNCTAD and the UN. The results showed that policies supporting renewable energies had a positive impact on indicators linked to these SDGs: improved access to electricity, increased employment in the clean energy sector, progress in energy innovation, reduced energy disparities between rural and urban areas, and a relative drop in CO₂ emissions. Thus, the expansion of renewable energies is asserting itself as a strategic lever in favor of sustainable development on a global scale.
