The Militarization Of Vital Maritime Areas: Us Military Positioning In The Mediterranean As A Case Study

Abstract
This study addresses the militarization of vital maritime areas, focusing on analyzing the United States' position in the Mediterranean Sea, a region subject to intense competition and considered one of the most important maritime areas sought by major powers. The study concludes that the United States, in its desire to expand its influence in the Mediterranean, seeks strategic engagement in the region. The importance of the American military presence is manifested in several dimension s, including the security of maritime shipping lanes, the protection of energy flows, the protection of its allies, and the monitoring areas of tension and conflict in the Middle East and North Africa
