Abstract: This study seeks to address a fundamental problem related to testing the effectiveness of participatory democracy as a tool for achieving local development in Algeria by relying on the analytical approach in order to understand participatory democracy and local development in addition to the case study approach with the aim of delving deeper into the case study of Algeria. This study reaches a fundamental conclusion: participatory democracy is considered an essential means of improving local performance and eliminating the blockage witnessed by elected councils.
