The Duality Of The Social Dimension And The Legal Reality Of The Crime Of Begging

Abstract
With the increasing prevalence ofbegging, which has begun to weigh heavily on various aspects of Algeriansociety, it has become necessary to explore the dimensions that make itrelevant to both citizens and legislators. This calls for a study of the social and legal dimensions of the phenomenon of begging, as it reflects the criminalization of begging from a social issue toa crime subject to legalexamination under the principles of criminalization and punishment, according to various amendments, the most important being Law No. 24-06, which amends andsupplements the Penal Code. This research paper will examine this issue from a socio-legal perspective in order to address the weaknesses in treating begging as a crime that threatens social and legal security.
