Marketing practices serve as a key entry point for enterprises—particularly industrial ones—to enhance their competitiveness, which in turn constitutes a strategic advantage. However, achieving this requires strict adherence to ethical standards and codes of conduct. Despite this, some enterprises resort to unethical marketing practices in pursuit of rapid gains and increased sales. While such practices may yield short-term profits, they inflict significant harm on the long-term competitiveness and sustainability of these enterprises. This study aims to examine the impact of unethical marketing practices on the competitiveness of Algerian food industry enterprises from the consumers’ perspective. To this end, 135 questionnaires out of 200 distributed to a random sample were analyzed. The findings indicate a statistically significant negative impact (at a significance level of α ≤ 0.05) of unethical marketing practices on the competitiveness of the studied enterprises. Among the unethical practices, those related to promotion were found to be the most detrimental, followed by those associated with product and distribution. Pricing-related unethical practices had the least impact, albeit marginally.
