This study addresses the international protection of immovable cultural property, during armed conflicts, as these properties constitute a vital part of human identity and civilizational heritage. The study highlights the international legal framework governing this protection, most notably the 1954 Hague Convention and its two Additional Protocols, which prohibit attacks on cultural property or its use for military purposes, and establish the principle of international accountability for violations. Organizations like UNESCO play a pivotal role in raising awareness and providing technical support to states for implementing these rules. However, significant challenges persist, including the absence of effective monitoring and enforcement mechanisms, non-compliance by non-state actors with international law, and the clash between military priorities and cultural preservation, as evidenced in recent conflicts in Syria and Iraq. The study notes that weak penalties for violators undermine the efficacy of existing laws. To enhance protection, the research proposes strengthening cooperation between states and international organizations, integrating heritage preservation concepts into military training, and employing technology (e.g., 3D imaging) to document endangered sites. It also emphasizes the importance of holding perpetrators accountable through international justice mechanisms, such as the International Criminal Court, which has begun recognizing heritage destruction as a war crime
