This article offers a detailed legal analysis of the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip within the framework of international humanitarian, human rights, and criminal law. It argues that the blockade constitutes unlawful collective punishment and may amount to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and potentially genocide. The article examines Israel’s contested status as an occupying power and evaluates the legal standard of effective control. It further assesses the structural weaknesses of international justice mechanisms, including the ICC and ICJ, in the face of political pressure and selective enforcement. The study concludes with practical recommendations for states and legal institutions and highlights underexplored areas of research, including the psychological consequences of siege warfare, the role of corporate actors, and the broader implications for international legal accountability.
