Frantz Fanon And His Opposition To French Colonial Racism In Algeria (1957–1961)

Authors : Ouamane Houria .

Abstract

The Algerian liberation revolution inspired many French intellectuals who opposed French colonial policy and expressed a libertarian ideology that rejected racism, oppression, and enslavement. Among them, Dr. Frantz Fanon stands out as one of the most significant voices denouncing manifestations of racism, a reality he consistently criticized through his literary and libertarian writings, which in turn inspired freedom-seeking patriots worldwide. He also sought to actively participate in the revolutionary struggle by joining the ranks of the liberation movement, which provided him with the field experience through which he embodied his libertarian philosophy, a conviction he had embraced since uncovering the realities of European, and particularly French, society.
