The Impact Of The Agricultural Sector On Non-hydrocarbon Economic Growth In Algeria (1995-2023): An Ardl Approach

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the impact of the agricultural sector on non-hydrocarbon economic growth in Algeria during the period 1995–2023. To achieve this objective, a descriptive methodology was employed to explore the theoretical foundations related to the agricultural sector and non-hydrocarbon growth, alongside a quantitative approach using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to measure the relationship between the study variables. The study found a statistically significant negative relationship between non-hydrocarbon economic growth and agricultural value added in both the short and long term. These findings highlight the need for Algeria to adopt a more comprehensive and diversified economic strategy to strengthen development and reduce structural dependence on the hydrocarbon sector.
