Authors : Zouyene Sadek .

Abstract

This study investigates the contribution of social and environmental responsibility to improving the performance of public institutions. It adopts a descriptive approach alongside a case study, using a questionnaire distributed to a sample of 63 employees, determined via Herbert Arkin's formula. Data were analysed using SPSS (v25) to test the study's hypotheses. The results revealed a statistically significant positive impact (at the 0.05 level) of the five dimensions of social and environmental responsibility (economic, legal, ethical, philanthropic, and environmental) on the performance of the Municipality of Skikda. The study recommends implementing economic, social, and environmental standards to enhance institutional and societal performance, and encourages the adoption of ISO 26000 as a reference framework to strengthen responsibility and transparency in public institutions.
