Hannibal Barca's military campaign against Rome from 218 to 203 BCE during the Second Punic War stands as one of history's most remarkable strategic feats. This study analyzes the military dimensions of his campaign, focusing on tactics, logistics, and strategic decisions that allowed him to challenge the Roman Republic for over a decade. By examining key battles such as Trebia, Lake Trasimene, and Cannae, the research illustrates how Hannibal's innovative tactics, such as the double envelopment at Cannae, redefined ancient warfare. Additionally, the study explores the logistical challenges of sustaining a diverse, multi-ethnic army across hostile territories and the eventual factors contributing to his strategic failure. The findings reveal that while Hannibal excelled tactically, his lack of logistical and political support ultimately undermined his long-term success.
