Abstract : This study aims to critically examine the methodological representations in Ahmed Al-Mutawakkil's book, The Mediated Discourse. It tests the potential of the expanded functional discourse grammar model in approaching translation across its various patterns and types, viewing it as a practice, a field of study, and a scientific specialization within the broader framework of communication. This perspective positions translation as a discourse that shares commonalities with other discourses. Therefore, within this linguistic orientation, it becomes plausible to consider these discourses as branches of a single domain, "the mediated discourse," and to approach them using a unified methodology. Based on this premise, the study addresses the following questions: What are the objectives and methodological underpinnings for approaching translated discourse as a branch of mediated discourse? To what extent do the unified functional approach and mediated discourse align across all its branches? To answer these questions, the study employs descriptive and analytical mechanisms to engage with the key epistemological issues raised in the book. Al-Mutawakkil's The Mediated Discourse is linked to the context of expanding the functional discourse grammar model, ensuring the identification of generation, analysis, and transformation mechanisms required by mediated discourse in all its branches, and addressing certain issues and problems raised by translated mediated discourse from new perspectives.
