Abstract: As artificial intelligence advances, robots can commit acts that may cause harm or even amount to crimes, raising the question of whether robots themselves can be punished or if humans remain solely responsible. This paper explores AI-related crimes, such as fraud and killings by autonomous robots, and points out Algeria’s lack of legal provisions for th ese issues. It argues that existing criminal laws need adaptation and suggests assigning civil liability to manufacturers and considering special legal status for AI systems. The study concludes that laws must evolve to balance justice and technological progress. Understanding these challenges is crucial for developing legal systems ready for the age of intelligent machines.
