Abstract

Sociologists, thinkers and philosophers have been interested in the issue of identity in the post-modern era, whose concepts have become characterized by fragility and instability, as identity has undergone a radical change in terms of its concept and components, moving from a state of stability and constancy for some thinkers to a state of fragmentation and multiplicity, to a more disintegrated state for Sociologist Zygmunt Bauman, founder of the concept of liquid modernity in a historical context in which the whole world witnessed social, political, economic, and cultural transformations, and it also received the same attention from the academic of Arab origin and French nationality. Amin Maalouf, who addressed the concept of identity in terms of its multiple elements and the transformations that can occur. You are exposed to it through its path is variable and does not know stability, which made him reject the definition given to identity as fixed elements. It continues with the continuity of the human being and is linked to gender, color and place of birth, but it takes new forms that were not known before. This expansion in defining the concept of identity and going beyond its traditional elements led to the emergence of new forms of identities. In addition to individual identity, we now have a social identity from which gender identity, digital identity, and cultural identity. Identity has become identities in a world that is rapidly moving towards continuous change, until the identity of a contemporary person has become subject to melting, in fact, it has lost its stability and permanence.
