This paper examines how artificial intelligence (AI) can promote sustainable development and the energy transition in emerging economies, with a focus on Algeria. Using a qualitative and analytical approach based on international reports from organisations such as the IEA, World Bank and OECD, the study demonstrates that AI can enhance energy efficiency, governance and the integration of renewable energy sources. However, despite its potential, challenges remain, such as limited infrastructure, skill shortages and weak regulation. The paper concludes that adopting a national AI strategy and promoting international cooperation are essential for achieving a smart, sustainable energy future in Algeria.
