Abstract: This study examines the Arabic translation of Nowhere in My Father’s House by Assia Djebar through the theoretical frameworks of postcolonialism and translation studies. At the core of Djebar’s writing lies a profound linguistic and cultural hybridity, which situates the translator within a complex space of negotiation reminiscent of Homi Bhabha’s concept of the Third Space. The analysis highlights translational choices that fluctuate between strategies of domestication and foreignization, each carrying significant ethical ramifications. Translation is thus conceptualized as both a political and aesthetic act ; one that is fundamentally implicated in the representation of alterity and the preservation of polyphony, both of which are crucial to the reception and interpretation of Francophone Maghrebi literature.
