The Efforts Of Algerian Scholars In Writing Biographies And Profiles : The Case Of Abu Al-qasim Al-hafnawi

Abstract
This research aims to examine the contriutions of the Algerian scholar Abi Qasim Al-Hafnawi in his work Ta‘rīf al-Khalaf bi-Rijāl al-Salaf (Introducing the Successors to the Predecessors), focusing on his distinctive approach that combines historical documentation, collective biography, and literary style. The study addresses a central question concerning the methodological nature of Al-Hafnawi’s work : Is it primarily historical, biographical, or literary ? Through a descriptive-analytical approach, the research reveals the structure, methodology , and scholarly value of the book . One of the key findings is that Al-Hafnawi’s work provided Arab researchers, especially Algerians, with a rich reference documenting the names of scholars from various regions and Arab countries, along with their diverse contributions across multiple fields of knowledge.
