Based on Vallerand’s Dualistic Model of Passion, the present paper delves into the analysis of the concept of passion in Stephen King’s novels Pet Sematary and Revival, regarding them as a recreation of Marry Shelly’s Frankenstein. The study traces the development of passion as one’s interest, occupying a proportion within daily activities to be one’s life obsession and its consequences throughout the lives of Shelly’s Victor Frankenstein and King’s Louis Creed and Charles Jacobs. Driven by the grief of losing their beloved, the characters alter their harmonious passion in science into obsessive passion to penetrate the veil between life and death, resurrecting the dead, which leads to their ultimate demise by the end. This paper shows how obsession can drive people to do things they would never do in normal circumstances as it highlights Stephen King’s refusal of surpassing the boundaries of human knowledge.
