Abstract: Today, the contemporary Arabic novel is witnessing radical transformations in both form and content, resulting into the openness of the text to diverse narrative styles, which has allowed creators to explore new dualities, the most prominent of which is the (utopia and dystopia) dichotomy. Utopia represents an ideal world governed by harmony and virtuous values, while dystopia, depicts a world dominated by chaos, corruption, and absolute evil. This narrative allows novelists to reflect on the collapse of societal values, such as the novel of Frankenstein in Baghdad by Ahmed Saadawi, which tells the reality of Iraq during the American invasion. Through the novelist’s lens, the city’s transformation is documented, from a city bearing hope to one overshadowed by death, violence, and fear. The city's transformation shaped its residents. The novel raises profound questions about the interaction of the place and its impact on characters. Keywords: Utopia; Dystopia; War Literature; The Corrupt City; Frankenstein in Baghdad.
