Since the fall of the Gaddafi regime in 2011, Libya has been experiencing severe security fragility, resulting from complex historical and socio-political factors. The intense competition over Libya following the spread of popular uprisings across various Arab countries was one of the key reasons leading to its internal paralysis. This has left Libya with almost no security immunity, making it vulnerable to external breaches of its national sovereignty. The Libyan crisis has gained its uniqueness compared to other crises due to the multiplicity of its parties and the extensive external breaches of its internal sovereignty, whether political, economic, or territorial. To study the reasons for the intervention of these powers and their continued support for one internal party against another, as well as to identify the motivators that led them to engage on the ground to protect their interests, the study relied on key concepts and perceptions provided by geopolitics as a scientific material within the field of international relations. This approach aims to realistically explain the policies of external powers in Libya and to help dismantle the idealized image that various parties promote to legitimize their legally unjustified intervention in Libyan affairs.
