Digital Citizenship: A Societal Mechanism For Protecting Society From Cybercrime

Abstract
In recent years there have been successive leaps in communication and information technology, accompanied by changes in individuals ‘abilities to interact with technology towards ease, convenience, and speed in communication and accessing information sources, Undoubtedly this modern technological revolution has resulted in behaviors that vary between positive, when utilized effectively, and negative, when users rebel against the ethical rules and legal regulations governing human affairs. The difference between these outcomes lies in how individuals choose to use it. Therefore, this study focuses on understanding the impact of this revolution on society and how a digital citizenship approach can be relied upon to address some of the negative effects on the community.
