This study seeks to elucidate the procyclicality of the fiscal policy in Algeria in response to oil price fluctuation as the main channel for the transmission of oil price volatility to the economy. Using First-Differenced Multiple Linear Regression (OLS) on data from 1990 to 2020 we measured how the non-oil primary budget balance responded to three factors; oil prices, the ratio of public expenditures to gross domestic product (GDP), and the proportion of oil revenues within the budget. The results validate the procyclicality of the Algerian fiscal policy. We further examine the influence of this policy on the management of the Algerian Revenue Regulation Fund and its role in mitigating the consequences of oil revenue fluctuation.
