Globalization has significantly increased intercultural encounters, leading to serious challenges in intercultural communication. Adapting to cultural differences while preserving religious beliefs can be particularly complex for individuals. While intercultural communicative competence offers a solid foundation for addressing these issues, it does not align with the rigid nature of religious affiliations. To this end, this paper, proposes a new perspective by decoupling religion from culture. It provides arguments establishing this distinction through theoretical perspectives and case studies of multiple cultures. Furthermore, it aims to protect religious beliefs even in the spirit of interculturality, suggesting a dual identity for each individual. According to this framework, cultural identity is deemed to be more flexible and negotiable. Religious identity, on the other hand, remains more rigid. Moreover, it advocates for embracing multiculturality, which celebrates global diversity and fosters an inclusive environment. This approach enables individuals to uphold their religious adherence without being perceived as closed-minded, ultimately, enriching intercultural communication and mutual understanding.
