The Transfer Of Argumentative Effect In Diplomatic Translation: Strategies For Translating Some Rhetorical Devices From English Into Arabic

Abstract
This study examines the rhetorical devices used in diplomatic texts and the translation strategies used to preserve their argumentative effect. It accomplishes this by comparing the English and Arabic versions of President Obama's 2009 Cairo speech to see which devices are invariable and which change. The goal is to identify the best translation strategies for conveying the persuasive effect of these linguistic tools across languages. According to the analysis, the translator employed a variety of methods while translating these devices; some preserved the argumentative effect, while others reduced it or simply ignored it. This emphasises how crucial it is for the translator to be familiar with these devices in order to preserve their persuasive impact while translating diplomatic texts.
