Résumé
Deutsch: Der vorliegende Artikel befasst sich mit dem Bairischen Dialekt als sprachlichem Phänomen im Spannungsfeld zwischen regionaler Identität und gesellschaftlicher Machtstruktur. Bairisch wird nicht nur als Kommunikationsmittel betrachtet, sondern auch als Ausdruck kultureller Zugehörigkeit, sozialer Positionierung und historischer Kontinuität. Im Fokus stehen insbesondere die lautlichen und lexikalischen Besonderheiten des Dialekts im Vergleich zur hochdeutschen Standardsprache sowie seine strategische Verwendung im öffentlichen Raum – etwa in Politik, Medien oder Alltagskommunikation. Darüber hinaus wird analysiert, wie sich der Dialekt in verschiedenen gesellschaftlichen Kontexten unterschiedlich auswirkt. Während er in ländlichen Regionen oft mit Heimatverbundenheit und Authentizität assoziiert wird, kann er in städtischen oder formellen Kontexten stigmatisiert sein. Der Artikel beleuchtet auch, inwieweit der Gebrauch des Dialekts zur Konstruktion sozialer Identität beiträgt und welche Rolle er im kulturellen Selbstverständnis der Sprecher:innen spielt. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, den Bairischen Dialekt nicht nur linguistisch, sondern vor allem in seiner sozialen und kulturellen Bedeutung zu erfassen und damit einen Beitrag zur Diskussion über sprachliche Vielfalt und Standardisierung im deutschsprachigen Raum zu leisten. Französisch: Les dialectes ne sont pas de simples variantes linguistiques : ils jouent un rôle essentiel dans la construction de l’identité culturelle, de l’appartenance sociale et des rapports de pouvoir au sein d’une société. Le bavarois, l’un des dialectes les plus connus et les plus parlés dans le sud de l’Allemagne, ne constitue pas uniquement un moyen de communication, mais aussi un marqueur identitaire régional et un héritage culturel vivant. La perception publique du bavarois est souvent ambivalente : d’un côté, il est perçu comme chaleureux et traditionnel ; de l’autre, il est parfois stigmatisé comme « rustique » ou moins prestigieux que l’allemand standard. Pourtant, ce dialecte est également utilisé de manière stratégique dans certains domaines tels que la politique, les médias ou l’économie régionale pour transmettre une image d’authenticité, de proximité et de sincérité. Cet article propose une analyse des particularités linguistiques du bavarois par rapport à l’allemand standard, et examine son usage dans une perspective socioculturelle. Il s’agira d’interroger la valorisation sociale des dialectes, la relation entre langue et pouvoir, ainsi que le rôle des dialectes dans la construction des identités. L’objectif est de mettre en lumière l’importance sociolinguistique du bavarois et de révéler les implications culturelles et politiques de son emploi. Englisch: Dialects are more than mere linguistic variations; they reflect cultural identity, social belonging, and power structures within a society. The Bavarian dialect, one of the most widely spoken and recognizable dialect groups in southern Germany, serves not only as a means of communication but also as a marker of regional identity and cultural heritage. Public perceptions of Bavarian are often ambivalent: on the one hand, it is considered charming and traditional; on the other, it is sometimes associated with stereotypes of simplicity or a lack of education when compared to Standard German. At the same time, Bavarian is strategically used in certain spheres such as politics, media, and regional business—to convey authenticity, familiarity, and closeness to the people. This article examines the linguistic features of Bavarian in comparison to Standard German and analyzes its use and impact in a socio-cultural context. It focuses on questions of social evaluation of dialect use, the relationship between language and power, and the role of dialects in identity formation. The goal is to highlight the sociolinguistic significance of Bavarian and to explore the cultural and political implications embedded in its usage
