From Criticism Of Orientalism To Criticism Of Occidentalism: A Reading In The Jabri Project

Abstract
Mohammed Abed Al-Jabri (1935-2010) is considered one of the most prominent Arab intellectual voices in the modern era, and the most influential in the march of contemporary Arab thought. His intellectual project was characterized by inclusiveness and depth, and by constant preoccupation with issues of renaissance and modernization in the Arab world. This project has witnessed fundamental transformations and developments, the most important of which was the transition from the critique of Orientalism, which dominated the beginnings of its intellectual career, to the critique of Occidentalism, which formed a milestone in its thinking.
