The Evolutionary Of Uses And Gratifications Research

Abstract
In this Article, the researcher reviews the evolutionary of uses and gratifications research, and based on qualitative analysis he seeks to provide a chronological description of the most important research, methodological and conceptual developments that took place, scrutiny the efforts and contributions of researchers in this field. The researcher concluded that there have been three distinct phases of notable advancement in the uses and gratifications research, since its emergence to this days. The first one started in the forties with the first studies that contributed to the founding of this research direction. The second one began in the seventies, when research on uses and gratifications emerged as a new stream of thought. The third period noticeable of research on the uses and gratifications of new media, which began in the early 1990s, since the internet has become a mass medium of communication.
