Abstract The France and the trips of Algerian scholars to Jerusalem (1948-1967) as reflected in the documents of the French colonial archives Based on the study and analysis of travel reports of scholars from Algeria to Jerusalem on the one hand, and on the other hand the correspondence of French diplomacy in Algeria, Paris and Jerusalem in this regard, the study aimed to reveal the historical ties between Algeria and Jerusalem throughout history. These reports and correspondence showed the Algerians’ continued connection to Jerusalem, and the continued Algerian support and relief for Jerusalem and the Algerians stationed there after the Zionist occupation of Jerusalem in 1948. Through these documents, the study also attempted to shed light on the presence of Algerians in Jerusalem after the Nakba and their failure to return to their homelands. As the suffering suffered by the North Africans of Jerusalem after the Nakba, including the Algerians was revealed; how they preferred to remain in the Holy City as refugees, receiving donations and aid. They refused to return to their original homelands, after Israel occupied their sources of livelihood, and France attempted to provide assistance to them and defend their interests in Jerusalem. Accordingly, the study explains the humanitarian and colonial problematic in the relationship between France and the Algerians of Jerusalem between the Nakba and the Naksa. France's exploitation of the suffering of the Algerians of Jerusalem to achieve colonial interests and projects at their expense is evident through its "protection" of Jerusalem refugees of North Africans origins in general and Algerians in particular since 1951 and its sponsorship of trips by Algerian scholars to and from Jerusalem.
