This paper discusses the remaining copies of: “al-Arbaʻīn al-Musalsalh”, a book by the Egyptian Muḥadith and Jurist al-Ḥāfiẓ Abī al-Ḥasan ibn al-Mufaḍḍal al-Maqdisī (d. 611 AH). Using the inductive, descriptive, and the analytical approach, the research examines these written copies studying their Asānīd, hearings (Smāʻāt), documentation signs, editing and correction signs. It also mentions the original narrators of the book and the verified book’s title. The study concludes that the verified title of the book is: “al-Arbaʻūn al-Musalsalh al-Musndh al-Muttaṣilah”, with its oldest narrator al-Ḥāfiẓ Zakī al-Dīn al-Mundhirī. There are two remaining copies of this book: A basic copy that has not been spared from some loss, now preserved in Istanbul, and another quoted copy that is limited to nine Ḥadīths from the original book, currently kept in Fās. The basic copy is documented by; al-Isnād, some hearings (Smāʻāt), dates, and comparing it with other copies, with its narrator on behalf of the author is ʻAbdālhādy ibn ʻAbd-al-Karīm al-Qaysī, while the quoted version is devoid from al-Isnād, hearings, dates, and has no known copyist. It’s worth mentioning that these two copies were not copied from the same manuscript, and that they have not been spared from some distortions (al-taḥrīf wa-al-taṣḥīf).
