Abstract In recent years, Burkina Faso has been going through a socio-political crisis marked by repeated putsches and a security crisis manifested by terrorist attacks throughout the country. It so happens that the press has to report these events in the national Moore language, but certain realities are not perceived in the Moore language, and remain foreign to the culture conveyed by this language. Through this study, we want to analyze the sociolinguistic situation of journalists in the national language Moore, by answering the following question: what are the constraints linked to the translation of socio-political news into the Moore language? In other words, the aim of the present study is first to identify and analyze the difficulties encountered by journalists in the Moore national language in translating political news, and then to make a proposal for a lexicon dealing with politics. At the end of this study, it emerged that journalists do not have a perfect command of the two languages, i.e. French as a source language and Moore as a target language, in order to adequately transpose political news. Key words: language policy, linguistic representations, terminology, translation, medias discourse.
