Authors : Hadjari Douriya .

Abstract

This research provides a comprehensive study of the Ksour, kasbahs, and desert stores in the Touat region. This later is rich in a significant number of landmarks characterized by their diverse forms, historical origins, military fortifications, and architectural styles. Despite the numerous studies conducted in the Touat areas, they have been limited and focused either on a specific type of architecture or a particular region within Touat. Therefore, this research aims to standardize the concepts related to the Ksour, kasbahs, and stores and determine their functions in the archaeological and desert context. We will present a detailed analysis of each type and highlight the various roles they play in the social and economic life of the region's inhabitants. Additionally, we will enumerate the architectural styles specific to each type. Subsequently, through this modest work, we seek to shed light on the historical and cultural importance of these architectural structures, in addition to offering insights that contribute to raising awareness of their importance and making more efforts to preserve them.
