This study examines the relationship between environmental sustainability and financial market development in Algeria, focusing on the impact of financial development on environmental outcomes. The research explores the Kuznets' hypothesis, which suggests that economic growth initially exacerbates environmental damage before improving it. The study emphasizes the need for balanced policies that foster economic growth and environmental sustainability. Algeria's government initiatives prioritize renewable energy investments, and the Algerian stock exchange plays a critical role in this dynamic. The study also examines Algeria's regulatory landscape, focusing on its efforts to harmonize with European Union environmental standards. The findings suggest that while financial development in Algeria has historically contributed to environmental degradation, there are signs of progress towards a more sustainable approach. To achieve long-term environmental and economic sustainability, Algeria must integrate environmental criteria into financial decision-making, promote green investments, and develop robust regulatory frameworks. .
