Violence In The School Environment: Its Factors, Manifestations, And Consequences

Abstract
Abstract: This study addresses the phenomenon of school violence, which has significantly increased in recent times, sparking extensive debate among those concerned with educational matters. Considering that school is the second environment, after the family, where a child completes their psychological and social development. The transformation of violence in Algerian schools from an isolated phenomenon into a complex social problem has become a real challenge for the educational system. It is influenced by various factors, including familial, psychological, physical, educational, media-related, and political factors, as well as peer group dynamics. What is even more concerning is that it manifests in various forms, such as physical, verbal, psychological, and symbolic violence, alongside sexual violence. This has resulted in significant negative impacts on schools in general and educational stakeholders in particular. ملخص تعالج هذه الدراسة ظاهرة العنف المدرسي، والذي ارتفع منسوبها بشكل كبير في الآونة الأخيرة، مما أحدثت جدلا واسعا بين المهتمين بالشّأن التربوي، باعتبار أن المدرسة هي البيئة الثانية بعد الأسرة التي يكمل فيها الطفل نموه النفسي والاجتماعي. إن تحول العنف في المدرسة الجزائرية من ظاهرة عارضة إلى مشكلة اجتماعية معقدة، أصبح يمثل تحديا حقيقيا للمنظومة التربوية، إذ تقف خلفها عوامل متعددة منها: العوامل الأسرية والنفسية والجسمية والمدرسية والإعلامية والسياسية، وكذا عامل جماعة الأقران، والأخطر من هذا أنها تتجلى في أشكال عديدة كالعنف الجسدي واللفظي والنفسي والرمزي، بالإضافة إلى العنف الجنسي، وهو ما أفرز آثار وخيمة على المدرسة عامة والأطراف التربوية بصفة خاصة.
