This article investigates media representation of African illegal migrants because they can be considered a threat to British society and economy. Besides, it examines journalists’ role in shaping the audience’s minds since they give a specific image about African migrants. More importantly, this article focuses on selected media channels that accentuate the problem of representation after 2020 to display the impact of Covid 19. This study relies on discourse analysis and Edward Said’s Orientalism. It emphasizes how The Telegraph relies on YouTube to shape the audience’s mind about migrants from Africa and other continents. This study also scrutinizes other media broadcasts such as Channel 4 and BBC that inspect African migration. While Channel 4 explores the problem of Rwanda and migration, BBC has several news on different migrants such as North Africans. The aim of this study is to provide an analysis of some selected news about migrants as long as African migrants are concerned. Hence, this study attempts to show the British concern about this issue and British government’s aim to control and stop migration from other countries.
