This study focuses on the new legislative approach adopted by the Algerian legislator under Law 24-06, amending and supplementing the Penal Code. This law explicitly criminalizes acts of sorcery and witchcraft in its sixth section, defining the scope of this criminalization as the act of being involved and engaging in these practices. It also extends criminal protection to include related offenses such as fortune-telling and divination, and criminalizes the deliberate fostering of these acts by all means. This supports the legislator's inclination towards adopting the concept of "crimes of danger" to protect individual security and societal stability through a penal policy that combines primary and aggravated penalties with supplemental measures, aiming to contain this phenomenon and uphold public order provisions.
