The influence of Magna Carta on the American constitutional system took several centuries to be fully articulated and incorporated into the current constitutional framework. American leaders regarded the principles of Magna Carta as values deeply rooted in their culture and recognized them as inherent rights worth fighting for. The English Crown initially refused to acknowledge these rights as applicable to the colonies; however, following sustained pressure and prolonged struggle, it ultimately accepted this reality, which culminated in revolution and the Declaration of Independence. The effectiveness of Magna Carta in American constitutional development unfolded across three critical periods: the colonial era from 1606 to 1760, the American Revolution, and the establishment of the Federal Constitution. This article examines the influences of Magna Carta on the American Constitution from the early seventeenth century through the creation of the Federal Constitution
