The Relationship To Work Of Secondary School Teachers: A Comparative Analysis Between Generations In A Context Of Reform And Socialisation.

Abstract

Since 2003, Algeria has undertaken a reform of the educational system, by adopting the competency-based approach, with the aim of transcending old pedagogical methods and practices, by establishing a new philosophy of learning and of the school. This redefines the roles of the secondary school teacher, shifting from the sole transmitter of knowledge to a facilitator in the educational process. This consequently imposes a new socialisation, a new relationship with work, and a crisis of professional identity. We therefore consider that the nature of the relationship to work among secondary school teachers is contingent upon the factors of change associated with the reform, and varies according to generation (pre-reform generation, transitional generation, reform generation). Our objective is to compare this relationship with the profession, focusing on the meanings attributed to work, which reflect their ways of acting and their professional identity.
