Cultural Entrepreneurship In Algeria: An Anthropological And Interdisciplinary Analysis

Authors : Gourari Mounira .

Abstract

This study analyzes cultural entrepreneurship in Algeria through anthropological, economic, behavioral, and institutional perspectives. It examines how cultural values, social norms, identity, religion, authority relations, and risk perception influence entrepreneurial intentions, innovation, and business performance. Based on a qualitative analytical approach using secondary data, academic literature, and contextual observation, the research reviews major theoretical contributions, including Schumpeter's innovation theory, Hofstede's cultural dimensions, Bourdieu's forms of capital, and Geertz's interpretive anthropology. The findings show that although Algeria has developed formal policies and support programs for entrepreneurship, informal cultural patterns continue to shape individual economic behavior and entrepreneurial decision-making. The study concludes that sustainable entrepreneurial development requires more than economic support; it needs culturally sensitive policies, stronger institutional trust, and education that recognizes the social and symbolic dimensions of entrepreneurship.
