This study examines the psychological and social dimensions of drug proliferation in Algerian society, situating the phenomenon within its broader criminal context from use and addiction to trafficking and organized crime. In recent years, rising levels of smuggling and its deepening links to criminal networks have heightened concern over the threats posed to social cohesion. This concern is reflected in expanding national and international efforts to curb drug production, consumption, and trafficking, as well as in the active engagement of security institutions and academic bodies. The growing number of conferences and forums further underscores its complexity and urgency.
