People With Type 1 Diabetes : Between Quality Of Life And Social Support

Abstract

This study focuses on quality of life and social support among people with type 1 diabetes. Its aim is to describe and understand the nature of the quality of life of these participants, and to assess the quality of the social support they receive. To conduct this research, we adopted a qualitative approach using the clinical case study method. Semi-structured research interviews were conducted, supplemented by two scales: the SSQ6 social support questionnaire and the ADDQOL quality of life questionnaire. Analysis of the data from the interviews and questionnaires revealed that all the participants had an impaired quality of life and a low level of social support. These results highlight the importance of social support in the psychological adaptation of people with type 1 diabetes, and underline the need for stronger support.
