This varia issue explores the evolving dynamics of language in the digital age through interdisciplinary perspectives that integrate linguistics, education, artificial intelligence (AI), discourse analysis, literature, and cultural studies. Bringing together contributions from diverse international contexts, the volume examines how language is continuously reshaped by cognitive processes, technological innovation, pedagogical transformation, and sociocultural change. The collection is organised into five thematic sections. The first lays the theoretical groundwork by examining the cognitive architecture and foundational frameworks underlying language processing. The second turns to innovative approaches in language didactics, tackling neural machine translation and post-editing practices alongside digital game-based interventions for speaking anxiety, mobile-assisted dynamic assessment, and a longitudinal study of autism spectrum disorder. The third examines English-medium instruction (EMI) and the integration of AI in higher education, extending to AI-assisted interventions in special education and the philosophical implications of machine-generated literary production. The fourth section analyses discourse as a site of identity construction, persuasion, media representation, and sociocultural negotiation through studies of literary, commercial, gender-related, media, and indigenous-language discourses. To finish, the last section explores the relationship between language, literature, and cultural identity that examines children's literature, AI-generated representations of ethnic identity, naming practices, utopian fiction, and language endangerment in multilingual communities. Collectively, the contributions demonstrate that language remains a dynamic system shaped by the interaction of cognitive, technological, educational, and cultural forces. Bridging theoretical enquiry with empirical research, the issue advances current debates on language use, learning, and identity in an increasingly digital and multilingual world while identifying emerging challenges and opportunities for future linguistic and educational research.
